Critical Periods segments a crop’s growing season into “critical periods” of crop development and provides rainfall, average temperature, and Growing Degree Day accumulation during each “critical period”.  Every growing crop has periods during its growth that are more sensitive to changes in the environment than at other times. During these sensitive periods, crop yield for food, forage, or fiber, can be more easily affected than at other times during its growth.

  • Quick Tip: The growth stages in Critical Periods are heavily dependent on a field's operational data, specifically planting data, entered into Field Story. Visit Field Story to update your field's planting data if you haven't done so yet.

  • Quick Tip: Critical Periods only supports corn, soybeans, wheat, barley, peanuts, & cotton.

Note: This feature is only available for Sustainability Campaign members.
